MintingMusic is a music tech company using Web3 & NFTs to shift the landscape of the music industry. They’re empowering musicians using blockchain technology for royalties, direct to fan commerce, licensing, etc. They do this by leveraging Mintbase’s tools to create marketplaces & other NFT products.

Seven Dead Stars (7DS), a new sci-fi adventure comics, for example, is one of their clients. Created by acclaimed music artists Unsecret and DJ Form, 7DS is now using minting & trading NFTs on their own marketplace. 7DS will then use those tokens for a greater purpose in the series.

We spoke to Amber Stoneman, CEO at Minting Music, about their journey into Web3 and their experience with Mintbase.

Minting Music is a team of music business professionals, blockchain engineers & artists. Seeing the ways in which blockchain technology could empower creators, they set themselves to bring positive change to the music business.

“We thought, why not build a music-focused NFT/web3 company that focused on the actual utility of these assets? That’s when Minting Music was born. A desire to solve some pretty large problems”, says Amber.

Amber is one of the core contributors and CEO of minting music. With a background in music & technology, she’s also the CEO of a pro-level independent community in the largest music city in the world, Nashville Unsigned.

And Amber relies on that experience to connect NFTs with the clients new to blockchain: “From concerts, festivals, experiences, fan clubs, NFT marketplaces and DAOs, we are bringing a Web3 focus to the music business like never before”, Amber explains. “We’ve got the experience and network to bring these Web3 dreams to fruition”.

Picking the right blockchain was an easy choice: NEAR Protocol “because of its carbon-neutral footprint, a true focus on diversity & inclusion, relentless focus on decentralization, community-driven energy and great opportunities for creatives.”

“They have done their due diligence in producing a long-standing product and they’re only going up from here.”

And why build on Mintbase? “Mintbase because of their track record of innovation, well ahead of the rest of the world. They have done their due diligence in producing a long-standing product and they’re only going up from here. We locked arms with them because we see what they’ve accomplished and where they are going with tech and how it fundamentally supports exactly what we do. Plus, we love their team!”, explains Amber.

“We employ a lot of Mintbase technology. Harmonic’s first (and Minting Music’s first) marketplaces were built as a fork of the Mintbase marketplace example code”, adds Quinton Armitage, who’s a cofounder at Harmonic Guild — the technological team supporting Minting Music.

Minting Music is currently building on a fork of the Mintbase Minter, employs the Mintbase indexer and some of their smart contracts also use the Mintbase royalty contract.

“Most of all, though, we value the personal relationship we have with the Mintbase team. They help us out all the time. They answer messages in the middle of the night. We kick back and forth ideas and visions for the future. They help us squash bugs and find solutions as we build the next generation of media consumption and fan engagement technology. We’re excited about what Minting Music will achieve and the tools Mintbase provides to help us get there”, says Quinton.

For the future, Minting Music envisions creators owning individual NFT marketplaces — a sort of “social merch stores” ecosystem. “We see festivals having their own marketplaces and elevating the festival and concert experiences with NFTs and gamification or management and agents tracking complex agreements on-chain with smart contracts.”

We love you right back, guys.
